Drew Heyen

Drew Heyen had been performing magic since 1985. He started with a very slow beginning, performing simple tricks for friends and family (a traditional start for magicians). His real interest developed when he played Gin Rummy with assorted friends on a nightly basis. Drew found that he was very comfortable with a deck of playing cards. Starting with flourishes, he quickly moved on to more complicated effects, giving an audience the impression that he could cause a deck of playing cards to respond to his every whim.

Elixir JPop Dance Group

Kaigai idols, or overseas idols, were people who presented themselves with the JPOP formula while performing—dancing, singing, wota chanting—the whole works! Attendees were treated to a magical show put on by Elixir, a Houston-based idol group, with featured groups Sworn Oath and See.ker!

Friday Night Bash: Enter the Matrix

Fans stepped into the Matrix and powered up the night at Comicpalooza’s Friday Night Bash! Kicked things off with a high-energy DJ set, dove into the action with a live band bringing the vibe to life, and kept the party going as another DJ closed out the night. With immersive visuals, electrifying music, and nonstop energy, attendees unplugged from reality and danced deep into the code.

Full Steel Combat

Knights were a part of the fantasy psyche as much as dragons and tyrant kings. Fans watched knights participate in melee combat, heard the ringing of steel and the clashing of swords, and rooted for their favorite knights throughout the weekend.

The Kendolls Burlesque Show

The Ken Dolls’ innovative and dynamic burlesque show left audiences in awe with their expertly crafted performance that combined singing, martial arts, fire, pole, and aerial arts.

KLOVR

Returning favorite, KLOVR, performed all weekend long and hosted demonstrations, workshops, and discussions. No dance experience was required!

Mic-no-Jutsu: Budokai Tenkaichi

This high-energy panel celebrated hip-hop culture at the convention, bringing together fans and artists passionate about battle rap, performance, and creative expression. The event featured a headliner battle with open sign-ups during the first 10 minutes, showcasing talent from leagues like Houston Bar Code, Live From the Block, and the Houston Underground Rap Battle League. Hosted by Detre Val and J. Parker, it blended freestyle, comedy, DJ battles, and live performances to deliver the energy of a live hip-hop show on the convention floor.

Miku LIVE! Palooza

「Miku LIVE! Palooza」was a fan-produced, immersive concert experience celebrating Hatsune Miku, featuring original custom animation, choreography, motion capture, character designs, and visuals created by a passionate team of artists and performers. Blending music, technology, and fandom, the show brought the Vocaloid world to life with a virtual idol concert atmosphere and had been performed at multiple live events, evolving each time with new creative elements. It was a vibrant, high-energy celebration of the creativity and community behind this iconic digital performer.

Pokémon-Themed Drag Show

Fans got ready for a high-energy Pokémon-themed drag show celebrating fandom, creativity, and performance at Comicpalooza! Hosted by Houston drag queen Hanna Santanna, this 90-minute spectacle featured dazzling drag performances inspired by iconic Pokémon, plus interactive games and a fun cosplay contest between numbers. Whether fans were Pokémon fans, drag fans, or both, the show delivered bold looks, big energy, and unforgettable entertainment.

Quadball

Quadball was based on Quidditch from the Harry Potter series. It was a fast-paced sport created in 2005 and played in over 39 countries, featuring a unique mix of elements from rugby, dodgeball, wrestling, flag football, and other sports. Fans came to learn the basics and tried out chasing, beating, keeping, or even seeking!

Sassterpiece Theatre

Sassterpiece Theatre was excited to return to Comicpalooza for another comedy adventure! This local team of hilarious geeks live-riffed the Shatner-piece that was Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. Fans watched them crack wise as the Enterprise crew trekked toward big existential questions while searching for God and fleeing bodybuilding Klingons!

Street Dancer 3rd Strike

Houston’s top dancers hit the stage at Comicpalooza for a high-energy dance battle hosted by J. Parker. Sixteen dancers formed eight two-person teams and competed through choreography, freestyle, and character-inspired routines that showcased their favorite fandoms and unique styles. The competition followed a bracket format—eight teams in round one, four in round two, and a final head-to-head showdown to crown the champions.

Texas All-Star Wrestling returned! Attendees cheered on their favorite wrestlers as they battled for the Comicpalooza Dragon Belt.
