Julia Brown is a writer, editor, and educator living in Houston, Texas. She is currently a doctoral candidate in the Creative Writing and Literature program at the University of Houston, where she is a Zweifel Luton Fellow and the winner of the Inprint Donald Barthelme Prize in Fiction. Her scholarly work examines literary realism and point of view in the contemporary American short story. She has been a fiction editor on the editorial team of AGNI since 2019, and her writing has been published in The Brooklyn Rail, Gulf Coast, Mosaic, SmokeLong Quarterly, and elsewhere. Her works in progress include a short story collection and a graphic novel themed around the lives of Black women, mental health, and neurodivergence.
