Bahar Momeni

Growing up in Iran, Bahar Momeni is an Iranian-American writer, poet, and human rights activist. She's a Ph.D. candidate in Literature at the University of Texas at Dallas, where she also teaches creative writing and literature.

Bahar has published works in Farsi and English in reputable journals and anthologies across Iran, Europe, and the U.S. Her writings explore themes of women's resilience and everyday resistance, contributing to ongoing conversations in modern literature. Her literary excellence has been formally acknowledged with several awards and recognitions, such as the "2023 Outstanding Emerging BIPOC Creator Award" from the University of Texas at Austin and the "2024 Future Art Writers Award" from MOZAIK Philanthropy and San Francisco State University.

Currently engrossed in her debut semi-autobiographical graphic novel, “The Trees We Carry”, Bahar aims to extend her discourse on identity, displacement, and resistance. This highly anticipated project serves as a crossroads for her intellectual inquiries and creative abilities.
