Dr. John Martin

John Edward Martin is the Director of Scholarly Communication and Comics Studies Librarian at the University of North Texas Libraries. He organizes the Comics Studies at UNT community, which includes faculty, students, staff, and community members. They organize comics-related events, exhibits, panels, discussions, and workshops, and support an active comics blog, monthly reading group, and online research guide. He is also the faculty advisor for the UNT Comic Book Club. Dr. Martin has served as an Executive Board Member-at-Large and a founding member of the Research Librarians Cohort of the Comics Studies Society and as the Book Review Editor of The Edgar Allan Poe Review. He is a scholar of gothic literature, horror & crime comics, and popular culture, currently working on a book on comics adaptations of the work of Edgar Allan Poe. He holds a PhD in American literature from Northwestern University, an MS in Library Science from the University of North Texas, and a BA in English & Religious Studies from Rice University.
