Mark A.J. Nazal

Mark A.J. Nazal is a multi-nominated, Emmy Award-winning visual effects supervisor, filmmaker, and creative executive. Known for his work on high-profile projects and genre-defining series including Gotham, Lucifer, and Westworld, he has led productions across both film and television.


In addition to his work in visual effects, he is an accomplished independent filmmaker, having directed and produced several short films and music videos that have been recognized by international festivals and creative platforms.


He is also the co-founder, Chief Creative, and a writer/creator at Diwata Komiks, an imprint under the publishing arm of SurrealArts Productions, focused on championing diverse, creator-owned stories in comics and other popular media. His work and insights have been featured at events such as San Diego Comic-Con, where he speaks on independent storytelling, visual world-building, and cross-media creation.


Mark currently serves as Executive Producer and VFX Supervisor at Ionart Studios, and heads SurrealArts Productions, his consulting and content company focused on visual effects and creative strategy for cross-platform storytelling—spanning both independent and studio productions across various territories. He is an elected member of theVisual Effects Society’s Texas Board and serves on the Television Academy’s Peer Group Executive Committee.
