Terry Farrell was born on November 19, 1963 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. At the age of 16 she sent photos to several modeling agencies and Elite Model Management signed her in the Fall of 1980. She moved to NYC in the summer of 1981 at age 17 and quickly moved from New Faces to the Elite Division. She appeared in commercials over the years. Everything from Maybelline and AT&T, to Oil of Olay soap. Her big acting break came when at 19 she read for ABC’s TV series Paper Dolls. The part was Terry’s first role and moved her from NYC to Los Angeles. Next came Beverly Hill’s Madam, a TV movie starring Faye Dunaway and the very successful, Rodney Dangerfield’s, Back to School. She modeled for the famous Virginia Slims cigarette campaign for five years. In Los Angeles she studied acting with Peggy and Bill Trailer and at Stella Adler’s Conservancy, with Arthur Mendoza. One of her favorite teachers was Ivana Chubbic, whom she met the first season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Then came Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth and Red Dwarf. Fortunately for Terry, her character of The Cat was dropped from the presentation, making room for her to audition for the role of Jadzia Dax on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
She is most well known for her role as Jadzia Dax in the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993-1998), and the sitcom Becker (1998-2002). On summer breaks she worked on television movies, One True Love with David Hasselhoff and straight-to-video movies.
Since the end of Becker, she has had her stage debut at The Hershey Area Playhouse. She worked on Love Letters and Secrets of a Soccer Mom. She’s also learned to teach Hot Vinyasa style yoga with Barron Baptiste. She no longer teaches but loves her practice. She has taken time away from work to be with her family and raise her son.
Terry recently married Adam Nimoy and now lives in Los Angeles.
