Binge if You Dare

The fall season is here, which means the changing of the leaves, cool nights, pumpkin carvings, hay rides, and of course, dressing up for Halloween.

And with Halloween right around the corner, what better way to celebrate than to binge watch horror movies all weekend! You may already have some in mind, but our resident film connoisseur has compiled a list of some of his favorite horror movies that will surely satisfy your scare craving.

1935 - Bride of Frankenstein

Start the weekend off right with a true classic, and one of the Universal Horror films that has influenced all horror films that have come after.

1959 - House on Haunted Hill

Would you stay locked in a haunted house for $10,000? Check out the original William Castle masterpiece that Hollywood can’t stop themselves from remaking!

1972 - Dracula AD 1972

Hammer Films took over from Universal as the kings of classic horror with most of their films having a very gothic look and feel. However, this is Dracula and Van Helsing battling it out in swinging 1972 London and it’s just as fun as it sounds.

1978 - Halloween

This is a list of movies for Halloween….do you think we’d miss out on this one? Plus it’s actually an indie film that started an entire genre. How cool is that?

1980 - The Shining

This film was based on Stephen King’s 1977 novel, The Shining, and proves that a critically acclaimed film can scare your pants off.

1981 - The Howling

A fun werewolf movie directed by Joe Dante. So, if you dig Gremlins, you need to see the film that got him the job from Steven Spielberg.

1982 - The Thing

If you’re into science fiction horror, this is one to watch. This was definitely no hit when it first came out, but since has been reevaluated as one of the best classic horror movies ever made.

1996 - Scream

This American slasher film reinvigorated the genre Halloween started. It’s so good that people are still discussing who the actual killers are.

2002 - Bubba Ho-Tep

Halloween doesn’t always have to be about being scared! Watch this comedy horror film to see Elvis fighting a mummy in a retirement home.

2014 - It Follows

In this supernatural film, a university student seems to be followed by an unknown force after an innocent sexual encounter.

2017 - Get Out

A film that proves that modern horror is still amazing. Watch this if you’re up for a feeling of uneasiness as you progress through a series of disturbing discoveries.
